Why is it called Poulton-le-Fylde?
The word ‘Poulton’ is derived from a ‘farmstead by a pool or creek’.
In 1842 when the Penny Post arrived, the ‘le-Fylde’ bit was added to distinguish it from Poulton-le-Sands near Morecambe.
