This market town looks lovely throughout the year. The volunteers from the Poulton in Bloom team work hard here to make a difference!
Poulton in Bloom has achieved much horticultural excellence over the years. The Silver Gilt award came to Poulton in the 2010 RHS North West in Bloom competition. And there have been many other awards over the years.
Whether you walk through Poulton on foot, visit any of the individual projects, or drive round the ring road you’re sure to see a magnificent display of flowers. It’s enough to stop the traffic!
The Royal Horticultural Society run the national In Bloom competition. It encourages communities to develop their project and grow year on year, and that’s exactly what is happening at Poulton. As more groups and individuals get involved it creates more momentum, enabling more to be achieved, making the town look even better!
Community Working Together
St Chad’s Church gardening group is leading the way with Poulton in Bloom. They’re cultivating community spirit and helping to make this historic market town a more beautiful and pleasant place to live, work and shop.
They’re working under the umbrella of the Poulton Partnership, with help from Wyre Council. Their blooming efforts are possible through local fundraising, sponsorship, donations and grants. The funds pay for bedding plants, shrubs, compost and planters, to help improve the neighbourhood and refurbish neglected areas.

There’s plenty of ways for your local business or organisation to join in. You could help out, donate materials, water plants or provide sponsorship.
- You can sponsor a tub for just £50
Join in with Poulton In Bloom
A huge effort is made to raise funds for the In Bloom displays, including stalls at the Christmas Festival and Poulton Gala. Coffee mornings and other fundraising events happen throughout the year.

Why don’t you join in? Your help would be very welcome and it’s a lovely way to contribute to where you live.
You don’t even need green fingers! It takes a small army of people each year to put on a successful show, each contributing in different ways.
- Contact the team by email: poultoninbloom21@gmail.com
- Meet them every Wednesday morning at 10am in St Chad’s churchyard. Because the In Bloom team also need volunteer gardeners.

I would really like to have been brought up in Poulton, although Cleveleys comes a close second
